About Me

My name is Fauzan Basyaib, which you shouldn't even try to pronounce with an English/American/etc accent because it would be impossible. Just call me Fauzy, since it's a little bit more simple, and it just sounds cute, although no one in my real life actually calls me that.

I was born on April 2nd, 1996, which makes me sixteen now. I've lived in Indonesia all my life, but desperately wish that I could move, because I'm not exactly proud of this country. If you saw my blog post about the Lady Gaga concert that was supposed to be held here, you'd understand.

I'm the youngest out of four, and all three of my older siblings are sisters. All of their ages only have a one year difference. Right now, I believe, from youngest to oldest, it is 31-32-33. Or maybe 30-31-32. Either one of those. Yeah, my mother had me when she was about 40-something. And of course, since I'm the only boy in the family, there's way too much pressure because everyone expects me to be this macho alpha male kind of person, and believe me, I can't act macho to save my life. Even the word makes me gag. It's just not who I am, and the problem with the people in my life is that they seem to only care about who they want me to be. Where I live, the culture is way different and driven by religion, so there's really no place for "different" people here, which of course include me.

Anyways, I actually only started reading less than two years ago. The first young adult book I ever read was Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. When I decided to read, it was really only because I needed a distraction while at school, during free time. I guess I'm what you'd call a loner, but I actually chose to be one, because the students at my old school? Definitely not friendship material, trust me. Far from it, actually. But I've since been homeschooled, and life has become a lot more bearable. Because the public school I went to was just insanely strict and horrible. Honestly, if my parents insisted on keeping me there, this blog probably would have never happened.

So yeah, I started to read only to fill the free time during being in my old school, like at recess and such. But eventually it became and obsession, and I started to buy more and more books and then I was suddenly wanting a big shelf in my room to store my growing pile of books.

And then I also started writing, but I'm not exactly sure if I want to be a writer or not. Writing for me is only for the fun, because I personally think the stuff I write is absolute crud. Definitely not worthy of publishing. I give up easily when it comes to writing. I would have this really great idea, work on it for a while, forget about it and eventually scrap it. Yet I still want to be a writer, because I can't really picture myself doing anything else in the future.

Other than that, though, I don't have much hobbies. I'm probably one of the most laziest people you'd ever meet. When I don't have to go anywhere, I stay in my room 24/7, either in front of my computer or in front of my Xbox. But mostly in front of my computer. Ever since I became homeschooled, I've had a lot more free time, and I usually use that free time to go online instead of read, because I'm honestly more addicted to the internet than books. Yeah, I'm a very cooped up person. I don't go outside much. Only when going to school or book shopping.

And of course, I have a huge pony obsession. But really, I only like the ponies of this generation─the ponies in Friendship is Magic. I barely ever saw the old shows. I honestly never thought I would be as addicted to MLP:FiM as I am now. Before I saw it, I was like everyone else: I thought it was a show for little girls. But one day I decided to give the show a try, and then I was addicted. And in case you were wondering, yes, my pony obsession is solely online. Having pony things in my actual real life wouldn't be the best idea in the world, considering how different the culture is where I live.

I never thought I would start a blog, to be honest. All I had was just a Goodreads, and I was never good with words when it comes to reviews, but one day I just decided to make a blog and I realized how fun it was. You guys might be wondering "Why 'Wild Heart'?" Well that was actually because I was addicted to this song called 'Wild Heart' by Sabi, and I decided to name my blog after it. xD

I had no idea how well my blog would be doing! Thank you guys so much for visiting and following me and reading my reviews. I have over 100 followers now, and it's insane, because I never thought people would even look twice at this blog. I can't thank you guys enough. <3

  1. Hi Fauzy
Just happened to run across your blog... I was actually looking at the Library's website for a book for my daughter. She is 15. You sound like a remarkable young man and anything but boring! You should be proud of what you have done here. It takes some courage to stand up for who you really are, even on the internet. Nice blog. Love the books and notes. Gonna pin it on my girls page....she will likely be back. Take care! Remember, "you are braver than you believe, stonger than you seem, and smarter than you think."- Christopher Robin

One thing I noticed when I was reading this page is that you're homeschooled. So am I!!!! You do get a lot of free time. I wasn't any good with words either, but I had a love of books, so I just started my blog one day and have loved it ever since!
Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and say hi. And that it's so cool you're homeschooled. And that I love your blog :)
